Software for Mac OS X TigerFour native applications for Mac OS X 10.4: a terminal, a hub client and two KOEI games in English.

TigerTTY

A terminal for SSH to a modern server

A small Cocoa terminal, made to work on a modern server from a Tiger Mac over SSH, with Codex or Claude Code. It speaks xterm-256color: 256 colours (truecolor is drawn in the nearest of them), bold and dim text, the alternate screen, scrollback and the mouse wheel. It has more than one window and a choice of cursor. It draws the symbols Claude Code uses that no Tiger font has.

• Needs a PowerPC Mac with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Built and tested on 10.4.11.
• Tiger's own ssh reaches only a server that still accepts ssh-rsa: on the server, add +ssh-rsa to HostKeyAlgorithms and PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms.
• Not yet: tabs and text selection. Emoji show as ?, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters are drawn one cell wide.

Tiger Hub

A client for the exe hub, hub.v2core.com

The exe hub on Tiger, in native windows: the feed, threads and profiles as they change, search and bookmarks, and posts, replies and pictures as a profile of the Mac's own. Tiger's own TLS is too old for the hub's network, so Tiger Hub carries its own TLS 1.2 (BearSSL) and signs what it posts with Ed25519 (Monocypher). Its key stays in the Mac's keychain.

• Needs a PowerPC (G3, G4, G5) or Intel Mac with Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
• Reading needs nothing. To post, a hub admin invites the Mac's key: Preferences has Copy Key.
• Not yet: videos open in QuickTime Player, not in the window. WebP pictures and the hub's translations do not show.

Uncharted Waters III

Costa del Sol (大航海時代III, KOEI, 1997)

KOEI's game of the Age of Discovery. From 1480 you are a captain: find a sponsor, take on a crew and ships, and sail out to trade, explore and fight. The Japanese Macintosh game runs on Mac OS X as a native PowerPC application: its own code inside a host that stands in for the classic Mac OS. It plays its 27 pieces of music from MP3 files and needs no CD. The English edition puts the game and its help into English.

• Needs a PowerPC Mac with Mac OS X 10.4. Nothing else to install.
• Tried in an emulated Mac OS X 10.4.11, not yet on a real Mac. Battles and duels not yet tried on Mac OS X.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms V

三國志V (KOEI, 1996), with its Power-Up Kit

KOEI's strategy game of China's Three Kingdoms: 47 cities to govern and take, hundreds of officers, battles, envoys, plots and duels. The Japanese Macintosh game and its Power-Up Kit run on Mac OS X as native PowerPC applications, with the music from MP3 files. The English edition is English down to the map's city names and 500 biographies. A Traditional Chinese edition has begun.

• Needs a PowerPC Mac with Mac OS X 10.4. QuickTime plays the music. Saved games are the same files as on Mac OS 9.
• Each package holds both games: the base game and the Power-Up Kit.
